Chat Do I Look Amish?

Hey, upper east emailers, sister Tew here! I'm in Denham Springs Louisiana for my first area and it is so awesome. My trainer is sis Rasmussen and she is the sweetest person ever. She is so knowledgeable in the gospel and how to be a missionary. I already love her so much for reals!! Also for any other greenies on here I got the first hug from sis Smuin!!!

Okay travel day was actually crazy! We had to wake up at 3:30 in the morning to go check out of the mtc by 4:30. After that we loaded all our stuff in a bus we drove to the airport and ended up being like 4 hours early for our flight. After a very boring 4 hours we flew to Dallas and I was planning on staying awake so it would be easier to sleep that night but I was slumped. When we landed in Dallas we had like 40 minutes to get on our connecting flight. No worries guys we made it like 5 minutes before doors closed. On that flight I sat next to the sweetest lady named Alice from Baton Rouge so we chatted the whole hour we sat there waiting for the rain to stop. Fortunately I fell asleep right before we took off so that flight was super fast. After we landed I finally met pres. Smuin and let me tell you he is a king. Sadly sis Smuin wasn't feeling to good so she wans't there, but they are both so awesome. What's even better is my area is right by the mission home so I may see them more often then other missionaries. Anyways I already love it here even though the humidity is kinda buns.

For my first actual day in the area we went to a nursing home to play bingo with some super awesome old folks. They all sound like Mama Odie or Ray from princess and the frog. I love it! There's this one old lady named Glenda and she is so funny. After bingo they brought out a beach ball to pass around the table and every time it went to Glenda she'd pick it up and hold it. One of those times she picks it up shakes the ball a little and says, "Thank you Lord. Praise you Jesus!" It was so funny! Hopefully I'll see her again next Friday and we can get a picture. Later that day I also got to meet one of our teaching friends named Johnny and let's just say he's a goon. He definitely loves to joke around, but when we start talking about the gospel he really locks in. Here's something he said that had us dying laughing. "God gave every body common sense. Am I right? Some people don't use it though." You have to read it like Ray from princess and the frog to feel the full effect. Anyways Johnny is awesome!!

The next day we went to go visit another friend, but they were sleeping so we got no answer, so we decided to go knock doors around the neighborhood to see if anyone was interested. We ended it meeting this girl boss of an old woman named Sally she's catholic though so we'll see if it goes anywhere. She did ask for some pamphlets though and I gave her a book of Mormon that had my testimony written in the front. Everyone pray she reads it! We also met this queen named Jennifer and let me tell you she is elect. The spirit was so strong when we were talking with her. I'll give more updates on her later for sure because we could just tell that she has a great desire to have the gospel become a part of her life everyone pray for her also!

One thing that I was not expecting coming out here was how much love I'd feel for everyone. I know that everyone we meet is a child of a loving Heavenly Father with divine potential. I love everyone who let's us share the gospel with them. I love everyone who tells us they have another church. I love everyone who has shut their door in our face rudely. I literally have so much love for everyone. I kinda of understand how Christ loves. While I still have a hard time loving people sometimes, I can feel the love Christ has for each of God's children out here whether they're accepting the gospel or not.

John 13:34

Last thing if you've made it this far. Our friend Wade just got cleared to be baptized so he's a dawg. However my first time meeting him he told me I look like the Amish. So please let me know!!

Never forget how loved you are!

xoxo sister Tew ♡

p.s. as of yesterday night I have to do 5 push ups every time I say words we aren't supposed to like "oh my heck" or "oh my gosh" or "crap" for future reference they are called "suedos" and I hate it.
